1. Site Preparation & Positioning

Select the installation position. The center of the concrete foundation must be at least 600 mm outside the court end line.

Check for underground cables, water pipes and gas pipelines before digging to avoid damage.

How to install an outdoor fixed basketball hoop

Prepare tools: shovel, tape measure, spirit level, support timbers, concrete vibrator, wrench set, marker line.

Inspect all components: anchor assembly, main pole, support arm, backboard, rim, net, bolts.

2. Dig the Foundation Pit

Minimum pit dimension: 700 mm × 700 mm × 800 mm

Recommended standard size: 800 mm × 800 mm × 1000 mm

Cold frost areas (North China): pit depth ≥ 1000–1200 mm

Windy open areas or soft soil: use 1000 mm × 1000 mm × 1200 mm

Compact the pit bottom, lay 100 mm thick gravel cushion for drainage.

3. Place & Level Embedded Anchor Frame

Put the galvanized anchor assembly into the pit; suspend it on wooden supports (do not rest directly on gravel).

Adjust horizontally with a level. Horizontal error ≤ 3 mm.

Coat anchor bolt threads with anti-rust grease and wrap tape to prevent concrete contamination.

Secure supports tightly to stop shifting during pouring.

4. Pour Concrete

Concrete grade: minimum C25; C30 recommended for schools and public venues.

Pour concrete in layers and vibrate thoroughly to remove air voids.

Make a slight outward slope on the concrete top to drain rainwater away from the base.

Keep foundation surface 0–10 mm lower than the finished ground.

5. Concrete Curing (Very Important)

Minimum curing time: 7 full days

Recommended curing period: 10 days

Do not mount the main pole or apply impact load before curing completes. Early assembly will cause tilting and foundation displacement.

6. Install Main Vertical Pole

Remove tape and clean anchor bolt threads.

Lift the main pole and align flange holes with anchor bolts.

Tighten nuts diagonally in several rounds for even force distribution.

Check verticality of the pole; vertical deviation ≤ 1‰. Adjust if tilted.

7. Assemble Backboard, Arm, Rim & Net

Install the support arm onto the main pole.

Fix the backboard firmly on the bracket.

Mount the rim. Standard height: 3050 mm from finished ground to the top of the rim.

Hang the basketball net.

8. Final Safety Inspection

Retighten all bolts after 24 hours.

Shake the hoop slightly to confirm no loose movement.

Check all connecting parts and locking washers.

Key Outdoor Installation Warnings

Never reduce pit size or concrete strength to cut costs.

Keep drainage around the foundation to avoid long-term rusting of anchor parts.

Check bolt tightness every 3 months for outdoor use.

Touch up damaged paint to prevent steel corrosion.
